Eligibility Criteria for JTET 2024
The eligibility criteria for JTET 2024 are divided into two categories:
- For Primary Level (Class I to V)
- For Upper Primary Level (Class VI to VIII)
Primary Level (Class I to V)
- Educational Qualification:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- OR, Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
- OR, Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR, Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- OR, Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
Upper Primary Level (Class VI to VIII)
- Educational Qualification:
- Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- OR, Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
- OR, Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
- OR, Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR, Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
- OR, Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Exam Pattern for JTET 2024
The JTET consists of two papers:
- Paper I: For candidates who wish to teach classes I to V.
- Paper II: For candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII.
Candidates aspiring to teach both primary and upper primary levels must appear for both papers.
Paper I (Class I to V)
- Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Language I: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Language II: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Mathematics: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Environmental Studies: 30 questions, 30 marks
Each section consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1 mark, making a total of 150 marks. The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours.
Paper II (Class VI to VIII)
- Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Language I: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Language II: 30 questions, 30 marks
- Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and Science teachers): 60 questions, 60 marks
- OR, Social Studies/Social Science (for Social Studies/Social Science teachers): 60 questions, 60 marks
Each section consists of multiple-choice questions. The total marks for Paper II are 150, with a duration of 2.5 hours.
